Men's Tennis
vs Dartmouth Invite #1
Dartmouth College

Day One

9/19/2014 9:08:00 PM | Men's Tennis
PRINCETON, N.J. – Dartmouth men's tennis opened fall play with the three-day Farnsworth Ivy Plus Tournament at the Lenz Tennis Center on Princeton's campus on Friday. Nine different Big Green players participated in singles and doubles action, going 1-3 in doubles and 9-1 in singles.
“I was really pleased with the team today,” said head coach Chris Drake. “The guys came out, played hard, and with good intent. We could have had better results in doubles but, at this point in the year, we are focusing more on how we want to play, and the guys stuck to that well.”
In doubles action, junior Dovydas Sakinis and sophomore George Wall put up a fight against Luxas Heihal of St. John's, but ultimately fell by a score of 8-6. In singles, all three members of the class of 2018 had victories at their first collegiate matches. The Big Green won all but one singles match throughout the day.
“In singles, we had a lot of good performances,” Drake continued. “It's always nice to see three matches where we came back to win after losing the first set. Our returning players worked very hard over the summer and they look like completely different players. The freshmen got through some nerves and played good tennis as well.”
Dartmouth returns to action tomorrow for day two of the Tournament.
