BOSTON – The Dartmouth women's cross country team placed fifth at the highly competitive Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown Friday afternoon on the 5K Franklin Park course.
Junior Dana Giordano was the Big Green's top harrier in a field of some of the nation's best, crossing the line sixth overall in 17:11. Liv Westphal of BC cruised to the individual win, posting a 16:30, which was 21 seconds better than the next fastest runner.
As a team, Dartmouth's 207 points were fifth behind No. 1 Michigan (55), No. 5 Georgetown (77), No. 15 Syracuse (134) and the hosts from Boston College (192), a team currently ranked No. 16 in the country.
Senior Sarah B. Delozier was the second runner wearing green and white to complete the course, finishing in 17:51 and claiming 35th.
A pair of freshmen were next as Ellie Gonzalez was third for Dartmouth in 18:02.0 to take 46th overall and Leigh Moffett was 50th in 18:04. Junior Sarah Bennett rounded out the scoring with a 79th-place showing in 18:22.
Senior Alison Lanois (99th, 18:30) and junior Reid Watson (111th, 18:37) were the sixth and seventh respective Dartmouth runners to cross the finish line.
Harvard (8th, 250 Points), Cornell (9th, 254) and Columbia (13th, 286) were the three other Ivy League teams competing in the meet on Friday as all were bested by the Big Green.
Dartmouth is back in action on Oct. 11 at the New England Championship meet held on the same Franklin Park Course.
