Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week - Fraser & Caldwell

Upsets and dominating performances are the norm for Dartmouth Big Green athletes this week. Sophomore Patrick Caldwell won the 10K Free last weekend for the Nordic ski team at Bates by more than 45 seconds. Madeline Fraser played an important role in the women's squash upset of two top-ten teams in New Haven.

Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Madeline Fraser, So., Brooklyn, N.Y., Women's Squash

Dartmouth sophomore Madeline Fraser split a pair of matches over this weekend as the women's squash team upset a pair of nationally ranked teams. On Saturday, Fraser won 3-0 and picked up a valuable point for her squads win over No. 7 Stanford. On Sunday, she helped her team knock off No. 8 George Washington.

Patrick Caldwell, So., Lyme, N.H., Men's Nordic Skiing

Patrick Caldwell followed up an impressive showing at the US Cross Country Championships with two podium finishes at the Bates Carnival. The sophomore finished second (first among skiers from NCAA schools) in the 20K Classic race with a mass start on the first day of competition, just 5.4 seconds off the pace. On Saturday, he returned to dominate the field in the 10K Free — the discipline in which he earned All-America honors as a freshman — completing the course more than 45 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor in 23:17.5 for his third career individual carnival victory and seventh career podium stop.
