HANOVER, N.H. – A hard-fought, three-set win at No. 5 singles by freshman Julia Schroeder clinched the win for the No. 63 Dartmouth women's tennis team, who defeated Brown by a score of 5-2 on Saturday afternoon.
"Overall, we had an outstanding performance today," head coach Bob Dallis said. "Julia's energy and competitiveness was the key to her winning the deciding match."
Junior Taylor Ng and freshman Kristina Mathis had an easy 6-1 victory over Hannah Camhi and Ashley Noyes at No. 1 doubles, while junior Julienne Keong Si Ying and Schroeder had a tougher time, but ultimately defeated Maddie Stearns and Alyza Benotto, 6-4, at No. 3.
In the top spot for singles action, Ng won handily, 6-1, 6-1, over Benotto. Both Crawford and Okuda came back from first-set deficits to win their matches, with Crawford defeating Ammu Mandalap at No. 3 (2-6, 6-4, 7-5) and Okuda winning against Nikita Uberoi at No. 4 (2-6, 6-4, 7-5). Schroeder's 6-2, 6-7, 7-6 victory against Stearns was the final point the Big Green needed to end the match.
Dartmouth will return to the court on Sunday morning, facing Mississippi State at 9 a.m. The Bulldogs had a 5-2 win over Cornell earlier on Saturday.
