HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth sailing competed in three regattas over the weekend. A handful of Big Green sailors traveled to New York, another group made their way to Rhode Island and one more headed to Maine.
At Hobart and William Smith's David Lee Arnoff Trophy, Dartmouth placed seventh with 74 points and was represented by Lisa Genthner and Erik Weis in the A-Division and Caroline Lauer and Duncan Williford in the B-Division. Following a Saturday that was a little too calm, Sunday's conditions were a lot better and featured some big waves that were missing the day before.
Overall, the Green combined for seven top-five finishes and the A-Division walked away with one first-place finish.
The Big Green placed ninth at Rhode Island's Moody Trophy with 127 points, finishing behind Bowdoin with 114 and just ahead of Brown in 10th with 128 points. A slow first day led to many cancelled races, but the second day was a lot more suitable for sailing. The B-Division had one first-place finish, while the two Dartmouth divisions totaled seven top-10 finishes in all.
At Bowdoin's Nicholas Barnett Trophy, Christopher Williford and Mary Amis sailed in the A-Division and Peggy Kilvert and Sophia Diserio were in the B-Division, coming in second with 87 points, 10 behind Roger Williams in first with 77 and far ahead of Boston University in third with 106 points.
Unlike the other two groups, those representing Dartmouth at the Barnett Trophy had good breeze both days and got in 12 races. The A-Division won their first four races, while B had two wins throughout the day. The two divisions combined for 13 top-three finishes and only finished out of the top-five five times.
Next up for the Big Green will be the Women's Intersectional at Yale and the Captain Hurst Bowl at Dartmouth.
