Dartmouth Ends Invite with 8-2 Showing Against UMass

HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women's tennis wrapped up the Big Green Invite on Sunday against UMass, going 5-2 in singles and a perfect 3-0 in doubles action. The Green finished the tournament with a 19-3 reord in singles and 6-3 in doubles.

At the conclusion of the invite, senior Katherine Yau, junior Taylor Ng, sophomores Julia Schroeder and Kristina Mathis, and Minnesota's Paula Rincon-Otero were named to the All-Tournament Team for all going 3-0 throughout the weekend.

All but one of the seven singles matches went to three sets, and the Green came out on the winning side of six of them. Yau, fellow senior Sarah Bessen and Mathis all worked back from a dropped first set to defeat their opponents in the next two. Ng had a 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 victory over Ana Yrazusta and Schroeder defeated Carol Benito by scores of 7-6, 2-6, 6-2.

In doubles, Ng and Schroeder paired up to defeat Anna Woosley and Crawford, 8-3, and Yau and freshman Allison Chuang had an 8-4 victory over Arielle Griffin and Laura Moreno. Senior Suzy Tan and Mathis had an 8-5 win over Brittany Collins and Benito.

Although this was the team's final competition of the fall, Ng and Mathis will return to action at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship at the USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York, from Nov. 12-15.
