PRINCETON, N.J. – After a successful day in the pool on day two of the Big Al Invitational on Saturday, the Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team moved up a spot and is now in fifth place with 244 points.
In the 200-yard medley relay, Dartmouth A took fifth (1:43.68), touching nine one-hundredths of a second ahead of Pitt. The relay was made up of senior Kendese Nangle, freshman Megan Crook, and seniors Emily Holt and Charlotte Kamai. The Green's B relay was 10th (1:46.94).
Senior Olivia Samson and freshman Amber Zimmerman competed in the C final of the 400-yard IM, taking 18th (4:28.72) and 20th (4:30.17), respectively. In the 100-yard butterfly, Holt improved on her time from prelims to finish in 14th place (56.53), while freshman Caroline Poleway was 19th (57.08) and sophomore Katie Altmayer came in 22nd (58.05).
Five Dartmouth swimmers competed in the 500-yard freestyle, with sophomore AnnClaire MacArt leading the way with her 10th-place finish (1:50.17). Zimmerman and Kamai were 17th (1:50.84) and 18th (1:51.03), while freshman Laura Barthold and senior Maddie Dunn took 23rd (1:52.53) and 24th (1:54.32).
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Crook was seventh (1:04.03), Barthold came in 20th (1:06.59) and Dunn touched in 22nd (1:06.91). In the 100-yard backstroke, senior Kendese Nangle placed fourth (56.08) finishing less than two-tenths of a second ahead of Brown's Jenna Zagoren. Competing in the B final were sophomore Taylor Yamahata and Poleway, who were 11th (56.94) and 15th (57.02).
To end the day, Dartmouth took fifth in the 800-yard freestyle (7:24.78), finishing almost three full seconds ahead of Princeton.
The final day of the Big Al Invitational will start at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
