PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Dartmouth women's swimming and diving returned to the water for the first time since early December to take on Ivy League rivals Penn and Yale at the Quakers' Sheerr Pool on Friday and Saturday.
The Big Green were defeated by Penn, 234-66, and Yale, 249-51.
The divers started things off Friday on the 1-meter board. Freshman Allison Green placed fourth (241.30), while sophomore Allegra Codamon took seventh (215.90). On the 3-meter diving board, Codamon was ninth (212.65) and Green came in 10th place (201.20).
Made up of senior Kendese Nangle, freshman Megan Crook, and seniors Emily Holt and Charlotte Kamai, the Dartmouth 200-yard medley relay placed fourth (1:48.81). The Big Green out-touched Penn by three-tenths of a second.
Sophomore AnnClaire MacArt led a string of Dartmouth swimmers in the 1,000-yard freestyle. She was ninth (10:35.48), freshman Molly Brickman took 10th (10:38.63), sophomore Hayley Winter came in 11th (10:43.68) and senior Olivia Samson placed 12th (10:52.73). Freshman Amber Zimmerman finished highest for Dartmouth in the 200-yard freestyle in ninth (1:55.07) and, later in the day, she placed sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.15).
Nangle was fifth in the 100-yard backstroke (57.99), while Crook came in fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.17). Nangle was back at it in the 50-yard freestyle, taking fourth (24.41) and, in the 100-yard freestyle, Kamai touched in sixth place (53.47).
Sophomore Taylor Yamahata was fifth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.15) and eighth in the 200-yard IM (2:10.94). In the 500-yard freestyle, MacArt placed eighth (5:08.91) and Holt was the first Dartmouth swimmer to touch the wall in the 100-yard butterfly, taking eighth (59.25).
To end the weekend, Dartmouth came in fifth place in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:35.02). Composed of Crook, junior Amy Sun, Samson and Kamai, the Green finished a second and a half ahead of Penn.
On Jan. 22-23, the Big Green will host the annual Dartmouth Invitational at UVAC in White River Junction.
