STORRS, Conn. – Dartmouth women's swimming competed in its second to last dual meet of the 2015-16 season on Saturday when it faced Connecticut. The Big Green fell to the Huskies, 160-121, and won seven events along the way.
To start the afternoon, Dartmouth placed second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:48.52). Made up of Kendese Nangle, Megan Crook, Emily Holt and Charlotte Kamai, the Green touched less than two tenths of a second behind the Huskies in first (1:48.39).
Sophomore AnnClaire MacArt won the 1000-yard freestyle (10:27.36) shortly before taking the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.75). Later in the meet, she also won the 500-yard freestyle (5:00.64), while Olivia Samson was second (5:08.77). In the 100-yard backstroke, Allison Parent finished highest for Dartmouth in fourth place (59.94).
Nangle and Kamai took the top two spots in the 50-yard freestyle, with Nangle touching in first place (24.71) and Kamai following very soon after (24.78). Caroline Poleway took third in both the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.34) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.82) before finishing in second place in the 100-yard butterfly (59.25).
Crook got a win of her own in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.09), leaving two-tenths of a second between her and the second-place finisher. She added one more in the 100-yard freestyle (52.72), touching just a few tenths of a second ahead of Nangle in second place (52.94).
The Green ended the day by taking first in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:35.23). The relay, which was composed of Amber Zimmerman, Samson, MacArt and Kamai, finished two seconds ahead of UConn.
Next Sunday, Feb. 7, Dartmouth will head to New York to face conference rival Columbia in the Green's final dual meet before the Ivy League Championship midway through the month.
