THIS WEEK
The Dartmouth men's lacrosse team will play its final road game of the 2015 season, heading to Philadelphia to face Ivy League foe Penn at 12 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Facing each other for the first time ever, Dartmouth defeated the New Jersey Institute of Technology, 7-5, on Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. Playing their final game of the year, the Highlanders wrapped up their inaugural season winless with a record of 0-12. Wiley Osborne had a good day, assisting on four of the seven goals, while Jack Korzelius led both teams with a hat trick, which included the game-winner with 7:26 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Big Green took an early 2-0 lead with markers by Adam Fishman and Jack Connolly, but NJIT tied things up with goals by Tyler Baggett and Joe Lomeli. Cody George's first goal of the season gave Dartmouth a 3-2 lead heading into the second quarter, where just one goal was scored, an unassisted marker by Korzelius. Following two more ties, Korzelius scored twice within two minutes to give the visitors a comfortable lead to last until the final horn.
SCOUTING THE QUAKERS
Penn is coming off two huge wins: it defeated No. 10 Brown, 14-11 on April 4 and had a 10-9 victory over Harvard a week later. Before that, the Quakers had been riding a four-game losing streak against four highly ranked teams: No. 19 Villanova (17-11), No. 11 Princeton (17-11), No. 7 Cornell (10-9, 3OT) and No. 11 Yale (15-7). This will be Penn's final regular season game. Leading the Quakers is Nick Doktor with his 16 goals and 32 assists for 48 points. Chris Santangelo is first on the team with 37 groundballs and is 68-for-121 in face-offs.
LEADING THE WAY
After a four-assist performance on Tuesday, Osborne remains first on the team with nine goals and 17 assists for 26 points. Korzelius is first in goals (16) and second in points (17). Phil Hession has grabbed 64 groundballs and is 89-for-152 in face-offs.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Blair Friedensohn has started all 10 games, making 95 saves while allowing 110 goals, has a 12.08 goals against average and a .463 save percentage. He is currently 3-6 on the season. Against NJIT on Tuesday, he made 11 saves and allowed five goals to earn the win. Colin Heffernan has appeared in three contests in 2015, making three saves and allowing nine markers, getting his first win of the year against Wagner on March 7. He has a 9.42 goals against average and a .250 save percentage. Vandenberg made his collegiate debut between the pipes against Harvard, spending 2:01 in the cage.
CALLAHAN & CO.
The 2015 season is all about rebuilding. That rebuild began last summer with the hiring of Callahan, who came to Hanover after spending the last seven years as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Lehigh. Callahan brought in Tucker Kear and Kevin Gould to round out the Big Green's new look on the sidelines.
FRESH FACES
Making their collegiate debut this year in the Class of 2018 are Willis Bocock, Jase Davis, Cormac Dugan, Cody George, Alex Kelly, Evan Key, Jack Korzelius, Patrick Lesch, Richie Loftus, James McJunkin, Sam Runkle, Doug Strazza and Ty Vandenberg. Leading the group is Korzelius with his 16 goals and one assist, while Key has three goals and two assists to his name and George has one tally.
WHAT'S NEXT?
After the game at Penn, Dartmouth has just one more week to go until the end of the season. On Tuesday, April 21, the Green will host UMass Lowell in a non-conference game set to start at 7 p.m., and on Saturday, April 25, Dartmouth will host Brown at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
