HANOVER, N.H. – Phil Hession, a senior on the Dartmouth men's lacrosse team, was named to the 2015 All-New England Second Team in two categories, as announced by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) on Wednesday.
The Canton, Massachusetts, native was one of four players on the list of midfielders and one of three in the face-off group. He was the only individual on either the first or second team that appeared in more than one category.
This announcement comes a week after Hession was named a first-team All-Ivy selection for the first time in his career. He appeared in all 13 games and started all but one. He led the team with 101 ground balls and was 140-for-224 in face-offs (.625). In the Ivy League, he was second in ground balls and third in face-offs.
He broke his own single-game records in both ground balls and face-offs three times throughout the season. Most recently against UMass Lowell, he set new marks by going 22-for-25 in face-offs and grabbing 19 ground balls.
