HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth men's tennis team is ranked No. 42 in the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Men's National Team Ranking of 2016.
This is the highest the Big Green have been ranked to start a season in recent years, opening the 2015 portion of the season against Buffalo as the No. 47 team in the country.
Four other Ivy League teams found their way into the rankings a few weeks before their seasons have even started: Columbia (18), Harvard (32), Princeton (34), Cornell (48).
Individually, senior Dovydas Sakinis found himself ranked 18th in the country and first in the Northeast Region. Two Dartmouth doubles duos appeared in the regional rankings: junior Diego Pedraza and freshman Roko Glasnovic are No. 5, while Sakinis and fellow senior Brendan Tannenbaum are No. 9.
For the second year in a row, the Green will open the season against Buffalo, returning to action after a two-month hiatus on Saturday, Jan. 16. Later that day, Dartmouth will face Bryant, with both matches taking place at the Boss Tennis Center.
