WEDNESDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth men's soccer team hosts granite state rival New Hampshire at Burnham Field for a mid-week showdown on Wednesday.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
New Hampshire comes into Hanover on a five-game winning streak, most recently taking down UMBC, 3-0. The Wildcats have also scored three or more goals in five of their last seven games and are ranked fourth in the nation in scoring offense. New Hampshire's only loss of the season came on Sept. 9 in a 3-1, decision to Holy Cross in Worchester. Chris Arling has scored nearly half of the Wildcats 26 goals this season with 10. The Windham, New Hampshire native also leads the team with 21 points and 31 shots.
LAST TIME AGAINST NEW HAMPSHIRE
On Oct. 27, 2015 the Big Green fell 2-0 to New Hampshire in Durham. After a scoreless first half, both teams were looking to break the tie, but it was the Wildcats who found success. With 30 minutes left to play, UNH's leading scorer Chris Wingate hit Frazal Nabi near the top of the box who fired a shot past Hickok for the first goal of the game. Just two minutes later Nabi buried his second goal of the game unassisted to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead. Dartmouth kept the ball in the offensive zone the remainder of the night, but could not get on the scoreboard.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green are coming off a 2-2 draw in double overtime with Princeton, last Saturday in New Jersey. Just seven minutes into the contest Noah Paravicini got Dartmouth on the scoreboard with his second tally of the season. Justin Donawa crossed into the box in a perfect spot for Paravicini to head in the first score of the game. In the 52nd minute, Tyler Dowse netted his first collegiate goal to put Dartmouth ahead, 2-0. Dowse worked around the defense and finished on a shot from about 15 yards out for the important second tally. The Tigers battled back with two goals in the second half to send the game into overtime where it ended in a tie.
WIN, LOSE, OR DRAW
Dartmouth has played to five double-overtime draws this season. The last time the Big Green recorded four ties was in 2013 in Chad Riley's first season as head coach. The most draws in a season for Dartmouth is seven in 2004.
AYE AYE CAPTAIN
The Big Green are led by captains James Hickok and Emmanuel Arteaga. Also this season, Dartmouth will have three assistant captains, Wyatt Omsberg, Matt Danilack and Dowse.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Hickok has performed well for Dartmouth in goal so far in 2016. He is second in the Ivy League in save percentage (.778) and first in goals against (8).
TAKING CHANCES
Greer and Donawa have been creating scoring chances for the Big Green this season. Greer leads the Ancient Eight with 25 shots, while Donawa is not far behind in third with 21. As a team, Dartmouth is second in the league with 110 total shots through eight games.
