Brown Bears (8-7-1, 3-2-1 Ivy League)
Date: – Saturday, Nov. 12, 5 p.m.
Location: Hanover, N.H. – Burnham Field
Series: Bears lead 38-32-5
SATURDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth men's soccer team will host Brown on Saturday for Senior Day with the Ivy League title on the line.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown heads into Saturday's match with two wins in its last five games. Last Saturday the Bears defeated Yale, 3-1 on Senior Day, keeping their Ivy League title hopes alive. Sophomore Matthew Chow leads Brown with six goals and 13 points. As a team, the Bears have scored 20 goals this season, the fourth most of any Ancient Eight squad. In goal, Erik Hanson has seen the majority of action with 46 saves and a 0.95 goals-against-average.
LAST TIME AGAINST BROWN
On Nov. 14, 2015, the Big Green lost a physical, 1-0 match to Brown in Providence. The loss was the only conference loss of the season for Dartmouth, after the Bears scored in the 67th minute on a penalty shot. Goaltender Stefan Cleveland made contact with a Brown player toward the top of the box resulting in a penalty kick for the Bear's Tariq Akeel. On the ensuing PK, Akeel fired a shot to the left of Cleveland as the Big Green net minder went to his right, resulting in Akeel's fourth goal of the season.
LAST TIME OUT
Freshman Henry Baldwin scored his first career goal, as Dartmouth defeated Cornell, 1-0 in Ithaca last Saturday evening. The Big Green controlled the pace of play for the majority of the match, outshooting the Big Red, 22-11 and held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks. Neither team scored in the first half which set up the crucial second stanza. In the 48th minute, Matt Greer lined up for a corner kick on the far side, sending the ball into the box. Baldwin was in the right place to head in the loose ball for his first career goal in a Dartmouth uniform.
WIN AND YOU'RE IN
The Big Green are currently tied for first place with Columbia in the Ancient Eight standings heading into the final weekend of the regular season. A win against Brown on Saturday would clinch at least a share of the Ivy League crown and earn the league's automatic bid to the College Cup, as would a tie and a Lions loss. Should Dartmouth fall to the Bears, Brown could clinch the Ivy League championship outright with a Columbia loss. The Lions will host Cornell, who is winless in conference play on Saturday.
RISING IN THE RANKINGS
The Big Green are ranked No. 27 in the nation in the NCAA Men's Soccer RPI rankings. Dartmouth is the highest Ancient Eight school on the list that is based on a team's wins, losses and its strength of schedule.
WIN, LOSE, OR DRAW
The Big Green have played to five double-overtime draws this season. The last time Dartmouth recorded four ties was in 2013 in Riley's first season at the helm. The most draws in a season for the Big Green is seven in 2004.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
James Hickok has performed well for Dartmouth in 2016. He is second in the Ivy League in save percentage (.8836) and third in goals against (11).
TAKING CHANCES
Matt Greer and Donawa have been creating scoring chances for the Big Green this season. Donawa is ranked third in the Ancient Eight with 37 shots, while Greer is not far behind with 34.
