POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Dartmouth men's hockey team dropped an ECAC Hockey road game, 4-2, Friday night at Clarkson's Cheel Arena.
Freshman Daniel Warpecha and junior Corey Kalk each scored their second goals in as many games for the Big Green (3-4-2, 1-2-2), but it wasn't enough to overcome the timely scoring of the Golden Knights (9-5-3, 5-1-1).
The result pushed Clarkson's unbeaten streak to eight games (6-0-2) and keeps it near the top of the ECAC Hockey standings as the first half of the season nears its end.
The home team jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period with a power-play goal from Devin Brosseau and the first of two on the night from Troy Josephs.
Warpecha finished a nice passing play down low from linemates Kevan Kilistoff and Charley Michalowski. Josephs scored the one goal of the second as Clarkson carried a 3-1 lead into the third period.
Michalowski would factor into the game in another way, getting called for a major and a game misconduct in the opening minutes of the final frame. After the penalties were all sorted out, the two teams skated four-on-four where Corey Kalk would net his third of the season and pull the Green and White to within one once again.
A Nic Pierog tally at the 13:46 mark of the period sealed the win for the Golden Knights.
Dartmouth junior netminder Devin Buffalo made 22 saves, while his counterpart in Clarkson's Jake Kielly stopped 26 as the visitors outshot their opposition, 28-26.
The Big Green head up the road to Canton, New York, to take on No. 19 St. Lawrence at Appleton Arena.
