No. 46 Dartmouth Ends Spring Break with LBSU Loss

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The No. 46 Dartmouth women's tennis team concluded its Spring Break by falling to Long Beach State, 5-2, at the Rhodes Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon. The Big Green fell to 8-3 on the season, while the 49ers improved to 10-4.

A win at the No. 2 and 3 doubles positions put Long Beach State up a point going into singles action. The match between the 16th-ranked pairing of junior Taylor Ng and sophomore Kristina Mathis and No. 36 Laura Eales and Hayley Thompson at No. 1 was sure to be a good one, but it went unfinished.

Junior Jacqueline Crawford put the first point on the board for Dartmouth with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Eales at No. 4 and freshman Allison Chuang made it 2-1 in the Green's favor with her 6-3, 6-0 win Georgie Sanders at the No. 6 position.

Although the home team would go on to win the four remaining singles matches, two of them would be pushed to three sets and the one between Ng and No. 60 Maeva Razakasoa at No. 1 ended with a tiebreaker.

On Saturday, March 26, the Big Green will play its final non-conference match, hosting its first of four consecutive home events taking on Houston at 9:30 a.m. From there, just seven Ivy League matches stand in the way of the end of regular season play.
