JACKSON, N.J. – After finishing second in Round 1 of the 2016 Ivy League Men's Golf Championship, the Dartmouth men's golf team is in third after two rounds of play at Metedeconk National Golf Club.
The Big Green shot a combined 309 (+21) on Saturday for a two-round score of 610. Harvard still leads the field after the Crimson shot a 306 (+18) for a combined 598, while Yale moved up to second after shooting a 302 (+14), brining its two-day score to 608.
Cornell is tied for third with Dartmouth with 610, while Princeton rounds out the top five at 620.
Sophomore Ian Kelsey led the entire field yesterday when he shot a 72, but the Deerfield, Illinois native slipped to fourth after shooting a 77. Kelsey's day was highlighted by birdies on holes six and 14 and 10 pars through his second round on the par 72 course.
Freshman John Lazor is tied for eighth with teammate Charles Cai after Lazor shot a 77 and Cai shot 74, improving his score by three strokes, which helped him jump six spots on the leaderboard. Cai faced some adversity on the front nine with four bogeys, but he rallied on the back nine with consecutive birdies on 13 and 14 and seven pars.
Junior Scott Jastor dropped a few spots after he shot an 81, while Sean Fahey finished his day with an 88.
The 2016 Ivy League Men's Golf Championship will conclude tomorrow where a champion will be crowned, as the teams will tee off at 8 a.m.
