HANOVER, N.H. – No. 10 Dartmouth heavyweight rowing raced on the Connecticut River for the last time this season, taking on No. 11 Syracuse for the Packard Cup. Although the Big Green won two of the three races, the Orange took the cup following a very close win in the varsity 8.
The first race of the day was the third varsity. Dartmouth finished first (5:42.2), leaving over four seconds between it and Syracuse (5:46.9). Also racing in the event was the Green's fourth varsity, which followed closely behind the Orange (5:51.6).
Dartmouth's second varsity (5:44.4) finished almost four seconds ahead of Syracuse (5:48.1) in second.
The Packard Cup was claimed by a two-tenth margin. Syracuse completed the course with a time of 5:40.0, while Dartmouth crossed the line just a split second later (5:40.2).
Next Saturday, April 30, the Green will head to Ithaca to face Cornell and Penn.
