FAIRLEE, Vt. – Over the weekend, Dartmouth heavyweight rowing hosted Yale, competing for the annual Olympic Axe. The Big Green won all four races, including the Varsity 8 race, to win their second straight Olympic Axe.
The regatta kicked off with the 4V race. The Big Green had two boats in the race, claiming first and second overall. The 4V boat won, finishing in 5:49.5 followed by the 5V boat, posting a time of 5:56.1.
The Big Green also took the win in the 3V race, crossing the finish line in 5:44.5, to post the 8.1 second victory.
The 2V also earned the win in the third race of the day. Dartmouth finished in 5:41.6 followed by the Bulldogs with a time of 5:45.1.
In the Varsity 8 race, the Big Green completed the sweep, earning the win with a time of 5:35.9 to take home their second straight Olympic Axe.
Dartmouth heavyweight rowing will be back in action in two weeks, competing at Eastern Sprints in Worcester, Mass. In last year's regatta, the Big Green took home three medals, including a second-place finish from their varsity eight.
