PRINCETON, N.J. – This past weekend, the heavyweight rowing team kicked off its spring season, racing on Carnegie Lake in Princeton, N.J. against Georgetown and Hobart.
The three teams competed in four races, as the Big Green took the win in all four.
In the Varsity 8 event, the Big Green ran away with the win, posting a time of 5:46.3 to defeat second place Hobart by 9.4 seconds.
Dartmouth also took the win in the 2nd Varsity 8 race, finishing in 5:51.0. Georgetown took second in the race, finishing 12.8 seconds behind the Big Green.
There was also a 3rd Varsity 8 race, competed in by Dartmouth and Georgetown. The Big Green had two boats in the race, as they took first and second, finishing just sixth tenths of a second apart.
The Dartmouth 3V boat finished in 6:01.4 while the 4V boat crossed the finish line in 6:02.0.
Dartmouth, Georgetown, and Hobart also competed in a Varsity Four race. The Big Green once again took the win, finishing in 6:47.6, 8.4 seconds faster than second-place Hobart.
The Big Green had an additional Varsity Four boat in the race, claiming fourth overall with a time of 7:07.5.
Dartmouth will be back in action on Saturday, April 18 when they travel to Providence to race against Brown.
