SATURDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth men's soccer team heads to Burlington on Saturday for a non-conference matchup with twin state rival Vermont at 2 p.m.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Vermont has had a successful fall so far with just one loss in nine games. The Catamounts only loss of the season came on Sept. 11 in a close 2-1, match with Virginia Commonwealth. Vermont enters the weekend at No. 20 in the Top Drawer Soccer Top-25 poll after knocking off previously unbeaten Marist 2-1 last Saturday. As a team, the Catamounts have scored 23 goals this season and eight of those goals have come from senior Yeboah Bernard. Senior Brian Wright leads Vermont in three offensive categories including points (21) assists (9) and shots (28).
LAST TIME AGAINST VERMONT
On Oct. 6, 2015 the Big Green defeated Vermont, 2-1, at Burnham Field. Trailing by one with less than two minutes remaining in regulation, Dartmouth went on to score two goals within 66 seconds to earn the victory. Matt Danilack and Matt Greer were credited with the goals, with Danilack scoring the game-tying marker and Greer earning his first game-winner of the season. Greer also earned the assist on Danilack's tally.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green are coming off a 1-0 loss at home to Hartford last Wednesday. Despite outshooting Hartford by a 10-5 margin, Dartmouth could not find the back of the net. After allowing a goal in the 35th minute, the Big Green's best chance to tie the game came with 15 minutes to play when Dartmouth had three corner kicks in three minutes.
AYE AYE CAPTAIN
The Big Green are led by captains James Hickok and Emmanuel Arteaga. Also this season, Dartmouth will have three assistant captains, Wyatt Omsberg, Tyler Dowse and Danilack.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Hickok has performed well for Dartmouth in goal so far in 2016. He is first in the Ivy League in save percentage (.808) and goals against (5).
TAKING CHANCES
Greer and Justin Donawa have been creating scoring chances for the Big Green this season. Greer leads the Ancient Eight with 18 shots, while Donawa is not far behind with 17. As a team, Dartmouth is second in the league with 77 total shots through six games.
