TUESDAY
Dartmouth and Vermont continue a yearly tradition on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m. in Burlington. The Catamounts are a member of the America East Conference.
LAST TIME OUT
- Dartmouth traveled to Princeton for its Ivy league opener and came away with a 2-2 draw despite having its goalie red-carded in the 36th minute and playing down a man.
- Dawson McCartney scored the first goal for the Big Green off an assist from Justin Donawa in the 20th minute.
- Matt Pickering then picked up his first career goal in the 35th minute with a leaping header from a free kick sent by Kota Sakurai.
- Goalkeeper Henry Stusnick was called for a red-card in the 36th minute and Dartmouth had to play with 10 players for the remainder of the match.
- Princeton took advantage and tied the game in the first half.
- Dartmouth battled in the second half and overtime to finish with the tie.
SCOUTING VERMONT
- Vermont was selected to finish seventh in the America East Preseason poll with a total of 15 points.
- The Catamounts are playing well this season, they come into Tuesday with a 7-3 record and are 1-1 in the America East.
- Vermont started the season 5-1 with its only loss coming in overtime at No. 10 Duke.
- Since then, the Catamounts are 2-2 with wins over Siena and UMBC and losses to Colgate and No. 19 UMass Lowell.
- Vermont is first in the America East with 20 goals.
- Geo Alves leads the Catamounts with six goals and Justin Freitas has five.
AGAINST THE CATAMOUNTS
- Dating back to 1977, Dartmouth owns the all-time series over Vermont with a 22-13-6 record.
- The two teams had played every year since their first meeting.
- Dartmouth is 7-0-2 since 2009, the last time Vermont defeated the Big Green was in 2008 when the Catamounts won 2-1 in Burlington.
IVY RECOGNITION
- The Ivy League announced on Monday that senior Justin Donawa and freshman Matt Pickering were named to the weekly honor roll.
- Donawa scored the game winner in overtime against Albany and assisted on a goal against Princeton.
- Pickering scored his first career goal against Princeton.
NEW ENGLAND SOCCER JOURNAL
- Donawa was named to the New England Soccer Journal Midseason Best XI
- The senior has two goals and one assist and leads the Big Green with five points.
