LAST TIME OUT
After playing every Ivy League team once already, the Big Green started over at the top against Harvard, dropping the match by a score of 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 21-25, 15-25) on Friday evening.
Â
Elise Petit continued on a hot streak, leading the way with 11 kills and 13.5 points, while also contributing one assist, one service ace, three digs and two total blocks.
Annemarie Horn was first with 16 assists,
Zoe Leonard had 20 digs and
Abby Kott led with five block assists.
Â
The teams were neck and neck to start the first, trading points and never leaving a gap of more than a few points between them. Tied at 12-12, a 7-1 Dartmouth run full of Harvard errors and kills by
Emma Moffet and
Mallen Bischoff allowed the Big Green to take a 19-13 lead. The Crimson responded with five straight points to make it a one-point set and stayed within striking distance for the remainder of the set. With a 23-22 edge, a kill by Kott and an ace by Petit gave the first set to Dartmouth (25-22).
Â
Harvard regrouped, coming out stronger in the second. Leading, 9-4, the Big Green started to chip away at that lead, capitalizing on Crimson errors and adding a few kills by Petit and Bischoff to pull ahead, 14-12. Following a few ties and locked at 17-17, Harvard broke away, using an 8-2 rally to make it a 1-1 match (25-19).
Â
Dartmouth fought hard in the third, closing the gap every time Harvard pulled away. Trailing by a score of 16-11, a handful of Crimson errors and a kill by
Francesca Meldrum made it a one-point set (17-16). The home team started to pull away, winning four points in a row to get to set point (24-19). A kill by Kott and an error on the other side of the net allowed the Green to get closer, but one more point gave Harvard the advantage (25-21).
Â
Set four started in Dartmouth's favor and, kills by Petit and some Crimson errors gave the Big Green a 4-2 lead. Harvard came back with a vengeance, winning seven consecutive points to jump ahead (9-4). The Crimson further increased their lead until they were eight ahead (20-12) before kills by Bischoff and a Harvard error allowed the Big Green to get slightly closer (21-15). The home team won the last four points to shut the match down (25-15).
