ORONO, Maine – The Dartmouth field hockey team dropped a mid-week non-conference game at No. 17 Maine, 4-0, Tuesday afternoon

The Black Bears (11-2) scored once in the opening half and then three times in the second to earn the victory over the visiting Big Green (4-6).

Senior goalkeeper
Hailey Valerio put forth one of her best individual performances as finished with a career-high 16 saves, three more than her previous best and five more than her best total in any game this season.

Nina Keur netted the first goal of the day in the 12th minute and would go on to score the final tally as well, finding the back of the cage in the 65th minute. In between, Casey Crowley and Emily Hindle added Maine goals in the 36th and 47th minutes, respectively.

Valerio had to be sharp on this afternoon as the home team had a 34-3 edge in shots, including a 24-1 advantage in those that reached net.

The senior keeper was also helped by four defensive saves.
Amrit Ahluwalia and
Maddie Donahue each had one, while senior co-captain
Jessica Valvano had a pair.

Dartmouth is home for pair of games this weekend, hosting Yale on Saturday (noon) and Northeastern on Sunday (1 p.m.).
