MIDWEEK CONTEST
After playing the first games of the season on the road, the Dartmouth women's hockey team will finally play at home on Tuesday when it hosts Vermont at 7 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green went 1-1 over the weekend, falling to Princeton by a score of 4-1 on Friday before taking Quinnipiac down in overtime, 3-2.
Against the Tigers,
Sara McClanahan scored her first collegiate goal, while
Gabby Billing picked up her first point of her freshman year with the assist. In net,
Christine Honor had 35 saves.
The following day,
Jennifer Costa's first goal of her career scored with just over a minute to go in overtime lifted the Green over the Bobcats. Seven different players had eight points, being led by
Tess Bracken with her two points from a goal and an assist. McClanahan had her second point of the weekend, while
Rose Falzone and
Caroline Shaunessy had assists. Honor ended the game with 23 saves, earning her first win of the year.
Dartmouth is the first team to score against Quinnipiac since a 3-3 tie against Vermont on Oct. 13. Since then, the Bobcats had shut out Brown (4-0), Yale (2-0) and Harvard (1-0). This was Quinnipiac's first loss in almost a month.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Vermont enters the game with an overall record of 2-4-3. The Catamounts' wins were both against New Hampshire, though the games were two weeks apart. Most recently, Vermont tied UNH, 2-2. Eve-Audrey Picard leads the team with six points from a trio of goals and assists.
LAST TIME AGAINST VERMONT
Once regular opponents, the Big Green and the Catamounts have not met since the 2016-17 season. On Dec. 10, 2016, Vermont had a 4-2 win at the Gutterson Fieldhouse in Burlington. The last time the Big Green defeated the Catamounts was on Dec. 14, 2014 on the road, thanks to a hat trick by Lindsey Allen '16.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Honor has appeared in and started all but one of the team's five games so far this season, making 125 saves in 243 minutes. She has an .899 save percentage and 3.45 goals against average.
Kayla Wormsbecher played her first collegiate game against Cornell, making 34 saves while being saddled with the loss. Dartmouth's other goalie,
Shannon Ropp, has not yet seen any playing time.
