ORLANDO – Defenseman
Tim Shoup '18 has signed a pro contract with the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL, the team announced earlier in August.
Â
An alternate captain as a senior with the Dartmouth men's hockey team this past season, Shoup will join fellow alternate captain
Corey Kalk in the Sunshine State in 2018-19 after Kalk was signed earlier this summer.
Â
This past winter, Shoup put together his best offensive campaign, leading the Big Green's defense with his career-high 10 points (5-5-10). Shoup came into 2017-18 with four career goals, but eclipsed that figure in just 26 games over the course of the winter.
Â
Shoup also became the 100th player in program history to appear in 100 career games on Jan. 27, scoring against Cornell. The night before — in his 99th career game — the Upper St. Claire, Pennsylvania, native scored the game-winning goal against Colgate and Hobey Baker Award finalist netminder Colton Point with 7:49 remaining in regulation to earn Dartmouth the 2-1 victory.
Â
The Solar Bears are the ECHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Â
Shoup graduated from Dartmouth in June with a degree in Government.
