PRINCETON, N.J. – The Dartmouth field hockey team fell to No. 5 Princeton, 3-0, in the Ivy League opener on Saturday afternoon at Bedford Field.

Sophia Tornetta, Mary Kate Neff and Jane Donio-Enscoe all scored for the Tigers (6-3, 1-0), while the Big Green (3-4, 0-1) were unable to find the back of the cage.

Hailey Valerio had eight saves, keeping Princeton out of the net for 45 minutes after the first goal had been scored.

The home team came out strong, getting on the board less than nine minutes into the opening frame. Throughout the remaining 25 minutes, Princeton outshot Dartmouth, 10-1, but Valerio was on point, making six saves to keep the game close heading into the intermission.

Princeton continued to push and had three shots to start the second before Neff and Donio-Enscoe made it a 3-0 game with goals scored 13 minutes apart.

Dartmouth will be home for the next two weekends, first hosting Brown on Sept. 29.
