ETNA, N.H. – The Dartmouth equestrian team had a very successful home opener show on Saturday, beating out five other teams to win the competition at Morton Farm.
Â
The friendly scrimmage followed a different format than usual, using the regulations of the Athletic Equestrian League, rather than the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. All riders were judged against a set of standards, both on the flat and over fences or in patterns. Each rider received a flat score worth 40 points and a fences or patterns score worth 40 points and both scores were added together for a final total for the day.
Â
Senior captain
Olivia Champ got the day off to a great start by winning the first Open Fences and Flat class. Junior captain,
Sophie Lenihan followed by also placing first in the second section of the open division and claimed the highest score overall for Open.
Â
In addition to Lenihan, Dartmouth had two other riders,
Sophia Kocher and
Margot Putnam, post the highest collective points in their divisions, winning Advanced Beginner and Beginner, respectively.
Â

Alexa Tucker in Advanced Beginner and senior captain
