PRINCETON, N.J. – Beginning Ivy League play on Saturday at Princeton, the Dartmouth men's soccer team finished with a 2-2 draw against the Tigers at Sherrerd Field. Dartmouth was in control in the early going, but a red card forced the Big Green to play outnumbered and battle for a tie. Sophomore

Dartmouth (2-4-3, 0-0-1) was outshot by Princeton (4-4-1, 0-0-1) 26-17 and 10-7 on goal. The Big Green finished the match with three corner kicks compared to two for the Tigers.
After Princeton started the game aggressively with two shots in the first two minutes, Dartmouth was able to take control of the possession. A long throw in the 20th minute sent the ball bouncing towards the goal and off the head of
Justin Donawa who placed it in the perfect spot for McCartney to chip it past the keeper and make it 1-0 Big Green.
Dartmouth kept the pressure on and were able to extend the lead to 2-0 in the 35th minute.
Kota Sakurai sent a free kick from the corner and Pickering went leaping for a header and buried it in the top-left corner of the net for his first career goal.
Shortly after the Big Green went ahead 2-0, goalkeeper
Henry Stusnick was given a red card in the 36th minute, forcing Dartmouth to play down a man for the remainder of the game and make changes to their alignment.
Princeton took advantage of the situation. In the 40th minute, Sean McGowan scored his first career goal for the Tigers to bring the score to 2-1.
As time was winding down in the first half, Princeton tied things up at two in the 45th minute. Kevin O'Toole received a long pass and found space in front of the goal to send it home and make it 2-2 at halftime.
The outnumbered Big Green battled in the second half and overtime. Princeton outshot Dartmouth 10-2 in the second, but it was only an 8-7 advantage for the Tigers in the overtime periods as neither side could break the tie.
Dartmouth is back on the road next for a non-conference contest at Vermont on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
