SATURDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth field hockey team will play host to Columbia on Saturday in a rare morning game with the opening whistle set for 11:30 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Big Green fell 6-0 to Yale last Saturday in the final game of a four-game road trip.
• The Sunday performance at home against Maine was a much better effort, but the Black Bears managed to edge out the home team, 2-1.
71 FOR 7th PLACE
•
Katie Spanos tipped in her sixth goal of the season in the game against Maine, tying her with
Carmen Braceras for the team lead this season.
• That helped her to the 71st point of her career, moving her into seventh all-time at Dartmouth, passing Lisa Masini '13, who had 70 points from 2019-12.
• Virginia Peisch '11 posted 75 points in her career and currently sits in sixth in the Dartmouth record books.
27 FOR 8th PLACE
• With 27 career goals thanks to that redirect, Spanos now sits in a tie for eighth all-time in program history with Ellen Remsen.
• Remsen accomplished the feat in just three seasons (1976-78).
• Carol Trask's 31 from 1980-83 are the next milestone figure ahead of Spanos in the record books.
SCOUTING COLUMBIA
• The Lions are currently 6-7 overall and 2-2 in Ivy League play.
• Columbia has several interesting conference scores to its credit in 2019, including a 1-0 shootout loss at Cornell as well as an 8-1 loss at Princeton. They also gave a 6-5 OT win at home to Penn as well as a 4-2 win vs. Brown.
• Away from NYC, the Lions are 2-5 in true road games, while 2-0 in games played on a neutral field.
• This weekend is a Granite State road trip as they play in Durham on Sunday against the Wildcats.
• Kelsey Farkas leads the way with 17 points on seven goals and three assists. Allison Smith also has seven goals to tie Farkas for the team lead.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
•
Isabella Santucci is currently third in the nation with 8.62 save per game.
• Also third nationally is
Cecelia Monnin in defensive saves with six. In just 13 games, Monnin has already posted more defensive saves than any Dartmouth players did in 17 games played last season.
• More impressive is that Monnin did not record any as a rookie in 2018.
• Dartmouth is third in the nation as a team with 11 this season, leading the Ivy League and trailing only the 12 of Ball State and Sacred Heart in all of Division I.
• Also, thanks to those defensive saves and the totals from Santucci, the Green and White are third in the nation with 9.46 saves per game.
A WIN WOULD…
• …Be good.
• …Snap a five-game slide.
• …Be the first of the season against an Ivy League foe.
• …Be the 364th in program history (363-349-33).
WELCOME BACK TO THE WOODS
• Saturday's game will also serve as the main event for Alumnae Weekend.
• Former players will return to Hanover this weekend to cheer on the Big Green as the team was away from campus during Homecoming.
