HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's cross country team will line up alongside seven of its conference foes Friday morning at the 2019 Ivy League Heptagonal Championship meet at Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx.
Â
The Big Green are second all-time in Ivy League titles with 16, but are looking to add to the trophy case for the first time since 2005.
Â
Last year, Dartmouth surprised some as it finished third, jumping up into the top-three thanks to 67 points, just six back of second-place Harvard (61).
Â
Sophomore
Owen Ritz (7th, 24:48.3) and junior
Henry Raymond (8th, 24:49.7) led Dartmouth on the cold and wet day. For Ritz, his performance earned First Team All-Ivy League honors, while Raymond was the first harrier to claim Second Team recognition.
Â
That was at Princeton's West Windsor Fields. This year's meet has moved back to the traditional home of Ivy Cross Country in New York City's northernmost borough and the site of the first seven conference championship meets (1939-46).
Â
This year's team has posted several strong showings so far, including a win at home in the Maribel Sanchez Souther Invitational as well as fourth at New Englands, seven at BC's Coast-to-Coast Meet and ninth at Paul Short.
Â
Leone Timing will provide live, updating results throughout the race.
Â
An awards ceremony will follow the conclusion of the men's 8K race around the 1 o'clock hour. First-team honors goes to the runners who finish first through seventh, while second team goes to the runners who finish eighth through 14th.Â
