THIS WEEKEND
Having already played one game this week, the Dartmouth women's hockey team will play two more this weekend, hosting ECAC Hockey rivals Yale and Brown.
HOT COCOA!
The first 100 fans to arrive on both Friday and Saturday will be treated to free hot cocoa (while supplies last).
LAST TIME OUT
Gabby Billing and
Catherine Trevors had their second consecutive two-point performances in Dartmouth's 4-2 loss to Vermont on Tuesday.
The two players each scored one goal and assisted on the other.
Jennifer Costa also ended up on the scoresheet for the second game in a row by assisting on the Big Green's second tally.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale is 2-0 to start the season and will be playing their conference opener against Dartmouth on Friday.
The Bulldogs kicked off 2019-20 at home last weekend with a pair of games against LIU, defeating the Sharks 9-2 on Friday and 5-1 the following afternoon.
Rookie Elle Hartje had four points (3-1-4) in her debut, adding a goal and an assist the next day.
LAST TIME AGAINST YALE
The Big Green went 0-2 against the Bulldogs last season, falling by a score of 2-0 at home on Feb. 2 before dropping their penultimate game of the year, 1-0 in overtime.
On Feb. 22, 2019, Dartmouth fell to Yale at Ingalls Rink.
Netminder
Christine Honor (who was named a second star at the end of the contest) played a great game, making 33 saves in 62 minutes.
The Big Green looked strongest in the second period, where they had an 11-7 shot advantage and a number of nice opportunities. With five minutes to go in the middle frame,
Tess Bracken intercepted a Bulldog pass deep in the zone, but goalie Kyra O'Brien managed to make the save.
Yale took off in the third and even though they were outshooting the visitors, 17-6, the Big Green held on. Early in the period,
Sara McClanahan gave Dartmouth its best chance when she got past her defender, but her shot clanged off the post. Following some huge saves by both netminders, the game went to overtime.
Both teams had a player in the box during the early parts of the five-minute overtime period. With Yale already back to full strength and with 17 seconds remaining on the Dartmouth penalty, the Bulldogs scored to end the game at 2:06.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown had a tough start to its season, falling to RIT by scores of 6-0 and 4-2 last weekend.
Three different players had a point apiece in the second game against the Tigers.
LAST TIME AGAINST BROWN
The Big Green went 1-0-1 against the Bears last season, winning their first meeting by a score of 5-2 before tying three weeks later.
On Feb. 23, 2018, Dartmouth tied Brown, 1-1, to conclude the 2018-19 season at Meehan Auditorium.
Bracken scored the Green's lone goal, while
Christina Rombaut and
Alyssa Baker assisted. Honor played a good game, making 25 saves.
Dartmouth took the lead early in the second thanks to Bracken's power play tally. With almost a minute and a half remaining with the extra player, the senior's shot from the blue line got past the Bears' goalie, who went for the save a second too late.
The Big Green had a few nice opportunities to make it a two-goal game in the third but netminder Hayley Kliczko was there each time. Honor, too, had some nice stops to keep the Bears off the board. With under four minutes remaining and a Dartmouth player in the box, Brown pulled its goalie for the extra skater and scored the tying tally. For the fourth straight game, the Green headed to overtime.
Dartmouth took control in the extra period, outshooting Brown, 6-0. The Big Green got close to ending the game a few times, but Kliczko prevented that from happening and the game ended in a tie.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Humphreys has started and appeared in net for the entirety of both games. She has 48 saves while allowing 10 goals for an .828 save percentage and 5.04 goals against average.
