THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth women's hockey team will play at home for the last time in 2018-19, hosting Clarkson and St. Lawrence. After the game against the Saints, the Big Green will honor their six seniors (
Alyssa Baker,
Tess Bracken,
Christine Honor,
Kate Landers,
Shannon Ropp and
Caroline Shaunessy).
Â
LAST TIME OUT
In their penultimate road weekend, the Green fell to Rensselaer and Union.
Â
RPI
Dartmouth found the back of the net first, but was ultimately defeated by Rensselaer, 5-2, on Friday evening.
Â
Sara McClanahan and
Gabby Billing were credited with the Big Green's goals, while
Bailee Brekke and
Sydney Hill assisted. Honor played the first 20 minutes in net and had four saves. Ropp appeared in net for the remaining two periods, stopping 13 shots.
Â
Billing's tally at 19:07 of the first was the Big Green's second shorthanded goal of the season.
Â
Union
Billing scored her second shorthanded tally of the weekend in the 4-1 loss to Union on Saturday afternoon.
Â
The Big Green rookie scored her third collegiate goal late in the first and
Alyssa Baker assisted.
Â
This is the first time since the 2007-08 season that a Dartmouth player has scored more than one shorthanded tally in a season (Sarah Parsons and Carrie Thompson both had a pair), though neither were in back-to-back games. The last time a Big Green player netted multiple shorthanded goals in one weekend was Sarah Clark, who had two against Yale on Jan. 6, 2002.
Â
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
Not much has changed in the three weeks since the teams' first meeting of the season. On a six-game winning streak when Dartmouth came to town on Jan. 26, Clarkson extended it to nine before falling to Colgate in overtime, 4-3, last Saturday.
Â
LAST TIME AGAINST CLARKSON
Dartmouth got on the board first, but fell to No. 5 Clarkson, 4-2, at Cheel Arena on Jan 26.
Â
Christina Rombaut and Brekke were credited with the goals. The rookies had a great game, as
Chloe Puddifant,
Lotti Odnoga, Billing and McClanahan all ended up with an assist. In net, Honor had a good game with her 30 saves.
Â
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
It's been a mixed bag for St. Lawrence since last playing Dartmouth back in January, as the Saints have gone 1-1-3 against conference opponents. Last weekend, they ended up with two points from a pair of OT ties against Colgate (2-2) and Cornell (1-1).
Â
LAST TIME AGAINST ST. LAWRENCE
McClanahan scored both of Dartmouth's goals to have her first multi-point performance of her career in the 3-2 loss to St. Lawrence at Appleton Arena on Jan. 25.
Â
The Wayzata, Minnesota, native scored her fourth and fifth goals of the season to take over as team leader in points and
Givanna Foglia (playing in her first game since Dec. 4) had her first collegiate point, while Bracken, Brekke and Hill also ended the game with a helper each. Honor had a great game, making 32 saves (.914 save percentage).
Â
LEADING THE WAY
McClanahan is back to leading the team in points (6-6-12), while Bracken (5-6-11) and Odnoga (2-9-11) are just a point behind.
Â
THOSE ROOKIES
Dartmouth's freshmen have contributed 37 points throughout the 2018-19 season, which is an average of 1.48/game.
Â
BETWEEN THE PIPES
In 22 games so far this season, Honor has appeared between the pipes for 1223 minutes, has made 577 saves while allowing 63 goals and has a .902 save percentage. Ropp saw some playing time in the game against RPI and, in four games and 144 minutes, she has made 53 saves while allowing nine goals.
