LOS ANGELES – Dartmouth was blanked by Loyola Marymount, 6-0, Sunday morning in Los Angeles to finish the CSUN/LMU Tournament. The Big Green (2-13) had their chances, stranding four runners in scoring position, while the Lions (17-11) scored in the first, second and fourth innings.
Â
Micah Schroder finished 2-3 at the plate, while
Calista Almer,
Morgan Martinelli and
Bryce West each had a hit. LMU's Samantha Manti pitched a complete game shutout where she only allowed five hits and struck out four batters.
Â
The Lions put their first run on the board in the first on an RBI groundout. LMU then extended its lead to 4-0 in the second on a two RBI single and a sacrifice fly.
Â
Martinelli hit a one-out single in the fourth to get some momentum started for the Big Green. Schroder followed that with a base hit of her own to put runners on first and second. After
Jade Bravo came in to pinch run for Martinelli, a passed ball advanced Bravo to third and Schroder to second with only one out. LMU defended a Dartmouth bunt perfectly, throwing out Bravo at the plate for the second out and the inning ended on a Big Green fly out.
Â
LMU scored its fifth and sixth runs in the fourth. The fifth run for the Lions came in on a fielder's choice and the sixth scored on an RBI groundout.
Â
Dartmouth had another chance to score in the seventh when Schroder began the inning with a double and got to third when West singled with one out, but game ended on a strikeout and fly out.
Â
The Big Green stay in California for two midweek games. The first is a rematch at CSUN on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. ET.Â
