Throughout the summer, DartmouthSports.com will be focusing on members of the Class of 2021 who are currently in their "Sophomore Summers" presented by Cape Air.
This installment focuses on Nick Feffer of the Big Green men's cross country/track & field team and a native of Boalsburg, Pennsylvania.
DartmouthSports.com: What have you been doing during your sophomore summer?
Nick Feffer: I've been balancing my time between training, hanging out with friends and working as an intern for the Computer Science department.
DS: What is your favorite place on campus?
NF: My favorite place on campus is probably Pine Park.
DS: What was it in the recruiting process that sold you on Dartmouth?
NF: Definitely the coaches. Dartmouth staff do a really good job making you feel welcome and wanted as part of the Big Green.
DS: If you could swap places with one teammate, who would it be and why?
NF: Reed Horton. He's got the best hair in the Ivy League.
DS: If you could play another sport at Dartmouth, what would it be and why?
NF: Probably soccer. I loooove soccer. My track friends and I play pickup every now and then.
DS: Outside of sports, what are you most passionate about?
NF: I'm really into computer graphics and graphic design. When I don't have work to do but I want to be doing something I'll often mess around in Photoshop or Maya.
DS: Other than your parents, who has had the greatest influence on your life?
NF: My four siblings for sure. All of them are incredibly talented and super smart, so they keep the pressure on me!
DS: Who would play you in the movie of your life?
NF: Probably Michael B. Jordan.
DS: What has been your best on-field memory thus far in your Dartmouth career?
NF: Freshman year. Making the 1k finals at the Indoor Heps. I had no business running as fast as I did that day and was absolutely shocked. I remember crossing the line in a qualifying spot and just looking around really confused and then getting really happy.
DS: How is Hanover different or similar to where you grew up?
NF: I grew up in State College, Pennsylvania, right next to Penn State so I was always used to a small college town.
DS: What is your useless/hidden talent?
NF: I can wiggle my ears.
DS: You step outside tomorrow morning and find a lottery ticket that ends up winning $10 million (after taxes). What would you do with the money?
NF: Tell everyone I won a million dollars and put the rest in the bank.
DS: What are your post-Dartmouth plans?
NF: I want to move to a major city and do computer science/graphic design at a tech company. That'd be the dream.
DS: What would be your best advice to your 15-year-old self?
NF: Stop cutting your hair and start wearing contacts immediately. Trust me.
