CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Dartmouth women's hockey left the Bright-Landry Hockey Center empty-handed on Friday, falling to No. 10 Harvard by a score of 4-0.
The Big Green played a solid 60 minutes and kept the shots close the entire time, but could not get past the Crimson defense or goalie to get one on the board.
"I thought our team played really well tonight," head coach
Laura Schuler said. "The score wasn't indicative of how we played. We put a lot of pucks on net and that was our goal. We had a ton of scoring chances and we just weren't able to capitalize. But we are right there."
Harvard (12-8-1, 11-4-1) scored a goal early in both the first and the second period to make it a 2-0 game. Even trailing by two, the Big Green looked strong and had some quality shots; it was just netminder Becky Dutton that was proving tough to get past. Before the end of the period was up, the Crimson had scored one more to take a three-goal lead into the intermission.
Senior
Christina Rombaut had two great chances to get Dartmouth (5-14-3, 2-11-3) on the board in the opening minute of the third period, hitting the post before picking up the rebound and sending it directly into Dutton's pads. At 11:20, Harvard netted its fourth to close scoring.
The Crimson had a narrow 34-33 shot advantage. Rookie goalie
Hannah Humphreys played from start to finish and ended up with 30 saves, some of which were instrumental to keep the home team out of the net.
The Big Green will close their six-game road trip on Tuesday with their final non-conference tilt of the 2019-20 season, facing New Hampshire at 7:00 p.m. From there, just three more weekends of ECAC Hockey games remain on the schedule.
