Senior Spotlight: Tola Akinwumi

DartmouthSports.com will be recognizing the senior student-athletes who had their fall seasons postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today's Senior…Tola Akinwumi, a middle blocker on the volleyball team from Palos Verdes, California.
DartmouthSports.com: What have workouts been like so far?
Tola Akinwumi: Workouts have been going well! It's been really fun to get back in the gym and touch the ball again.
DS: What is your most memorable on-court team moment?
TA: My freshman year when we beat Princeton during our last game of the season. The energy was amazing on and off the court and it was really rewarding to upset such a competitive team in the conference.
DS: What is your most memorable non-sports memory?
TA: Any ride back from away games is memorable for me. The team is always really lively and goofy on the bus because we are all so tired. Great times!
DS: Do you have any hidden talents?
TA: I play two instruments (trumpet and piano) and I know how to produce music!
DS: If you could swap places with one teammate, who would it be and why?
EP: Probably Lauren Douglas. I want to know how it feels to be that small and playing in the back row always seems so fun.
DS: What are your plans after Dartmouth (as much as you can plan for anything during this pandemic)?
TA: I'm going to work in finance for a couple of years, and then I plan on going to law school.
DS: What was the best gift you ever received?
TA: My Studio Beats! My dad got them for me before I came to college and to this day, I don't leave the house without them. They're especially handy if I want to listen to some music before a game or if we're on the bus.
DS: Other than your parents who has had the most influence on your life and why?
TA: My older cousin, Tomi! Growing up, she helped me navigate through a lot of different challenges and phases and I really admire her.
