DartmouthSports.com will be recognizing the senior student-athletes who had their fall seasons postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today's Senior…Kathleen Mulligan, a prop on the women's rugby team from Marshfield, Massachusetts.
DartmouthSports.com: What have workouts been like so far?
Kathleen Mulligan: Because I am not approved to workout with the team on campus this fall, workouts are totally different! I try to keep up with the strength and conditioning program put out by our coaches but having a bit less of a set team schedule also gives me time to explore the area with some of my workouts. In this way, the pandemic has afforded me an opportunity I otherwise would not have had. From beautiful trail runs to bike rides through the fall foliage, I have had a chance this fall to explore the area around Dartmouth that I hadn't had the time to before.
DS: What is your most memorable on-field team moment?
KM: Running to celebrate with my teammates on the field after the last play of the 2018 NIRA National Championship against Harvard. That win was like no other and really a full circle ending to a season of our hard work, camaraderie and pushing one another to be our best, on and off the pitch.
DS: What is your most memorable non-sports memory?
KM: I can't really pin one down, but all the times spent with my teammates off the pitch are among my favorite memories at Dartmouth.
DS: Do you have any hidden talents?
KM: I can sing the alphabet backwards. Does that count? (Sure does!)
DS: If you could swap places with one teammate, who would it be and why?
KM: Alex Conway. Her radiating brightness and positivity is beautiful and inspiring!
DS: What are your plans after Dartmouth (as much as you can plan for anything during this pandemic)?
KM: I'm planning to apply to medical school new year and hope to go into some sort of pediatric/adolescent medicine.
DS: What was the best gift you ever received?
KM: Can Kitmas count? This is when we receive all our gear for the year during preseason each summer. Getting new kit is always so fun and exciting, and it's even better to share that experience with your teammates! The excitement is always contagious.
DS: Other than your parents who has had the most influence on your life and why?
KM: Without a doubt, my four older siblings. Mary-Ann, Mike, Steve and Sarah have each served as role models and taught me invaluable lessons about hard work, resilience and being my best.
