DartmouthSports.com will be recognizing the senior student-athletes who had their fall seasons postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today's Senior…Lauren Douglas, a libero on the volleyball team from Pacific Palisades, California.
DartmouthSports.com: What have workouts been like so far?
Lauren Douglas: I am off-campus and remote, so I do not get to train with the team. Therefore, I have to get very creative with my workouts since I have limited gym supplies. I have taken advantage of the nice weather and gone for runs/hikes! New Hampshire and Vermont have such amazing mountains and trails to explore!
DS: What is your most memorable on-court team moment?
LD: My most memorable on-court moment was my freshman year. We were playing our last home game against Princeton and we won in five games. It was super close and there were lots of freshmen nerves on the court and it was such a rush and so easy to remember.
DS: What is your most memorable non-sports memory?
LD: Sitting on the eight-hour bus ride to Penn, and the cheering squad practice before home games (we do crazy cheers where I am lifted and thrown around).
DS: Do you have any hidden talents?
LD: I just learned the splits, I know the lyrics to every song by heart, and I can do the sign language alphabet.
DS: If you could swap places with one teammate, who would it be and why?
LD: I would swap with
Tola Akinwumi, because I am dying to see what she is thinking about all day…it would also be fun to be that tall for a day.
DS: What are your plans after Dartmouth (as much as you can plan for anything during this pandemic)?
LD: I hope to be working in either Boston or New York. I am from LA but am not ready to leave the East Coast. I am interested in fashion merchandising or corporate recruiting, so who knows which avenue I will end up taking.
DS: What was the best gift you ever received?
LD: My teammates Bella, Fran and Taite gave me cheetah print sweatpants for my birthday and I wear them every day.
DS: Other than your parents who has had the most influence on your life and why?
LD: The volleyball Class of 20s definitely helped me ease into Dartmouth. My older brother is a huge inspiration as well. He is two years older and played volleyball at USC and is really good, so he has always kept me into the sport.
