April 4, 2011 — Second-half surge carries Dartmouth to victory over No. 13 Syracuse
The 19th-ranked Big Green trailed 5-3 during the first half of play against the visiting Orange, only to use a 7-2 run the rest of the way to secure a 10-7 win.
Led by the strong play in net from rookie goalkeeper Kristen Giovanniello '14, Dartmouth won its fourth straight game thanks in large part to her 10 saves, many of which came at critical moments. The nation's leader in save percentage coming into the game at 53.9 percent, the number only went up as the first-year keeper anchored the comeback and outplayed her counterpart in Syracuse's Liz Hogan, the reigning IWLCA National Goalkeeper of the Year.
Six different players scored goals in the victory as Sarah Plumb '12 led the way with an incredible eight-point performance on three scores and five assists, while classmate Kristen Goldberg also had a trio of tallies.
Syracuse had the ball for much of the final 10 minutes of the game, but the stout Dartmouth defense limited chances, causing two turnovers, picking up three ground balls and collecting a crucial draw control to gain possession and run out the clock on the 13th-ranked Orange.
