May 17, 2011 — Women's Rowing receives bid to the NCAA Championship
For the second time in three years, the Dartmouth women's rowing team qualified for the NCAA Division I Championship. The event took place in Gold River, California, with Washington State serving as host.
The Big Green last made it in 2009, while they sent their Varsity 8 to the Championship in 2007 as the at-large qualifier. That practice was discontinued soon after in favor of 16 full teams.
Dartmouth was one of five Ivy League crews to make the field along with Brown, Harvard, Princeton and Yale.
A few days before the NCAA announcement, Dartmouth's Varsity 8 placed third at Sprints, which was the first time the Green's top boat had medaled since a third-place finish in 1997.
