May 26, 2006 — Women's Lacrosse advances to the NCAA title game with convincing win over Notre Dame
After losses in each of its previous three NCAA Tournament semifinal appearances, the Dartmouth women's lacrosse team was finally able to get over the hump and advance to the title game thanks to a 14-8 win against Notre Dame at BU's Nickerson Field.
Â
A 4-0 run in the game's opening eight minutes proved to be the catalyst that led to the win and a berth in the NCAA National Championship game for the first time in program history.
Â
Junior Whitney Douthett '07 powered Dartmouth with a four-goal, six-point performance.
Â
Leading 6-3 at halftime, the Big Green opened the scoring in the second half with another three scores. The Irish would chip away with two more goals and then another pair in the final 30 seconds, but five Dartmouth tallies in a mid-half run was too much to overcome as the Big Green won their first-ever meeting between the two teams.
