CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Dartmouth women's indoor track and field team opened their season at the Ivy & HBCU Challenge, hosted by Harvard at the Gordon Indoor Track.
The Big Green competed alongside the hosts, and HBCU schools Hampton and Howard.
Senior
Lily Lockhart was the standout as she opened the day by taking first in weight throw. Her mark of 19.07m is now the program record.
Freshman
Maeve Conneely started her collegiate career with a first-place finish in the high jump event. Conneely jumped 1.70m on her way to victory.
"It was an exciting day for Dartmouth track & field as we competed in our first indoor competition in almost two years," said Marjorie & Herbert Chase '30 Director of Dartmouth Track & Field
Porscha Dobson. "It was great to open with a special Ivy League and HBCU meet at Harvard. A big thanks to Harvard for hosting and recognizing each team and their head coaches."
"I always look for the fire in the eyes of the athletes during these early season meets, and our team really showed up and represented Dartmouth with a competitive spirit and had some fun", Dobson continued.
"Senior
Lily Lockhart kicked off the day in a school record fashion with her fantastic weight throw performance. As the first event of the day, the throws group continued to build the momentum for the team at large. Later, we had multiple top 10 all time marks and highlights in every event group- jumps, sprints, and mid-distance.
I'm proud of our team and the support they showed each other. Now that we have a baseline, we look forward to improving upon our performances through the remainder of the season."
