HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women's rugby junior
Ariana Ramsey was one of 15 players (12 rostered and three non-rostered reserves) selected to attend a competitive training camp in Dubai for the first two weekends of April.
"I am so excited to be a part of the USA Women's National Team," Ramsey said. "It took a lot of hard work to make this team and I can't wait to show how that hard work pays off!"
At the event, the USA Women's Sevens will face other senior national teams as part of their ongoing preparation for the Olympic Games in Tokyo this July. Alongside the USA, participating women's teams include Brazil, Kenya, Canada, Japan and France.
The Emirates Invitational 7s will take place behind closed doors with no spectators in attendance. There will be no live stream, but updates will be shared on @USARugby and @Dubai7s social media channels.
Head coach
Katie Dowty chimed in: "with the Olympics postponed a year, Ari had a unique chance to train full time with the USA 7s squad during their preparations for Tokyo. For a young player like Ari, that sort of experience is invaluable for her career ahead. We couldn't be happier for her to break into the 12 for this upcoming tournament in Dubai and have a chance to show her talents on the world stage.
"We've all been through a lot this year, but Ari in particular has shown remarkable resilience and determination to earn this selection. As the youngest player in the squad, she's already demonstrating the mental fortitude required to have staying power at the highest levels of the game. Our team and her family couldn't be prouder and more excited for her."
