Thirteen Named to Academic All-Ivy Teams

HANOVER, N.H. – Thirteen Dartmouth student-athletes were selected for the Academic All-Ivy League Teams, as announced by the conference office this week.

Different from years past, when each institution got a certain number of spots each season regardless of how many sports they had, every team will now be represented.

To qualify for a spot on the league's top academic team, these student-athletes have made major contributions to their teams throughout their careers. There is no minimum GPA requirement.

Baseball
Ben Rice   |   Junior   |   Cohasset, Mass.   | Psychology   |   3.71 GPA

·      Hit .278 with four doubles, three triples, a homer and 11 RBIs as a part-time starter behind the plate as a freshman.
·      Hit .265 in 34 at-bats in the Cape Cod League this summer.
·      2020 Futures League MVP.
·      Selected in the 12th round of the 2021 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees.

Men's Golf
Jason Liu   |   Senior |   Windsor, Conn.   | Engineering   |   3.82 GPA

·      Ivy League Rookie of the Year in 2018 and All-Ivy Second Team in 2019.
·      Led the 2019-20 squad with a 73.73 stroke average.
·      Played in 22 career tournaments with a stroke average of 74.13, six top-10 finishes and 14 top-25 placements.

Women's Golf
Julianne Strauch   |   Senior |   Advance, N.C.   | Biology   | 3.88 GPA

·      Three-time WGCA All-American Scholar.
·      Played in 11 tournaments in her career with five top-25 finishes. Her best showing came in her first collegiate outing, tying for 11th out of 63 golfers at the Dartmouth Invitational.
·      Received the team's Gibby Award in 2020, which is given to the player that has the spirit of the game and works hard both on and off the course.

Men's Lacrosse
George Prince   |   Senior |   Bradenton, Fla.   |   History   | 3.61 GPA

·      Squad leader each of the last three years.
·      Led the Big Green with 16 points during a four-game season as a junior. As a sophomore in 2019, he was third on the team in goals (16) and second in assists (15) and points (30).
·      His first year, he was first in assists (18) and points (34) and third in goals (16).

Women's Lacrosse
Claire Marshall   |   Senior   |   New Canaan, Conn.   |   Psychology   | 3.77 GPA

·      Scored seven goals in just five games in the shortened 2020 season.
·      Started all 16 games as a sophomore and led the team with 41 ground balls.
·      Second on the squad with 54 draw controls, one year after setting the program's freshman record with 54 draw controls while starting all 16 games.

Men's Heavyweight Rowing
Paul Gralla   |   Senior   |   Hamburg, Germany   | Computer Science   | 3.72 GPA

·      IRCA All-America First Team this spring.
·      Member of the Varsity 8+ boat that placed third at the 2021 IRA Regatta, the first Big Green 1V to medal in 29 years.
·      IRA Scholar-Athlete.

Men's Lightweight Rowing
Will Kaufman   |   Fifth-year senior |   Boulder Colo.   |   Mathematics   |   3.71 GPA

·      His V8 didn't have the chance to compete this year.
·      Helped the Varsity 4+ that finished third in the Petite Finals at the 2019 IRA Regatta.
·      Rowing with the Varsity 8 at Eastern Sprints as a sophomore, placing third in the Petite Finals.

Women's Rowing
Katharine Phillips   |   Senior   |   Wilmette, Ill.   | Neuroscience   | 3.89 GPA

·      Rowed in the Club 8+ that came in fourth at the Head of the Charles as a sophomore.
·      Her V4B was third in the Grand Finals at Sprints.
·      She was in the third varsity as a freshman, winning races against Boston College, Rhode Island and Bates.

Softball
Abby Shipley   |   Senior   |   Louisville, Ky.   | Psychology   | 3.56 GPA

·      Hit .294 with the team's only home run (tying the game in the final frame) in the abbreviated five-game season this spring.
·      Hit .414 and led the team in RBIs in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.
·      Finished her career as a .324 hitter with four doubles, a triple, three homers and 15 RBIs in 74 at-bats.

Men's Tennis
Peter Conklin   |   Senior |   Fairfield, Conn.   | Economics   | 3.69 GPA

·      Went 13-3 in singles, including a perfect 9-0 dual record, and 14-6 in doubles as a junior in 2019-20.
·      Won 18 singles and doubles matches as a sophomore.
·      He ended his career with 48 singles wins and 50 doubles victories.

Women's Tennis
Abigail Chiu   |   Senior   |   Austin, Texas   | Government   | 3.82 GPA

·      Four-time ITA Scholar-Athlete.
·      Played all of her doubles matches at the. No. 1 position throughout her junior year.
·      Won 23 singles matches and 29 doubles matches during her career.

Men's Outdoor Track & Field
Nicholas Feffer   |   Senior   |   Boalsburg, Pa.   | Computer Science   | 3.76 GPA

·      Two-time All-Ivy Second Team performer in the 4x800m at the 2019 Outdoor Heps, as well as in the 4x880m at the 2019 Indoor Heps.
·      Also a member of the cross country team.

Women's Outdoor Track & Field
Zoe Dainton   |   Junior   |   Hingham, Mass.   |   Hispanic Studies |   3.70 GPA

·      2020 USTFCCCA All-Academic.
·      Third in the high jump at the 2020 Indoor New England Championship.
·      DartmouthSports.com Female Athlete of the Week (Jan. 17, 2019) after clearing 5-7 in the high jump to win the event at the Dartmouth Relays.
