HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth volleyball sophomore
Ellie Blain was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.
Â
Since Blain did not get to compete during her freshman year due to the pandemic, she and her five classmates can be considered for either weekly award throughout the 2021 season.
Â
The Big Green went 2-1 to end tournament play at the Hartford Invitational this weekend, falling to Sacred Heart (3-1) before rebounding to beat Hartford (3-1) and Central Connecticut State (3-2).
Â
Blain earned her second straight all-tournament selection and, in 13 sets, recorded a team-leading 52 kills (4.00/set), .201 hitting percentage, 36 digs (second on the team), seven total blocks (second), one ace and 57.5 points (4.42/set), which was first on the team.
Â
This is the second weekend in a row that the Big Green have claimed the Rookie of the Week, after
Emma Engstrom received the nod a week ago.
Â
Dartmouth will be home on Friday to kick off conference action against Harvard at 7 p.m.
