HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's soccer team travels to Worcester, Mass. for a nonconference matchup against Holy Cross on Tuesday, Oct. 4. The Big Green look to bounce back following a loss in their Ivy League opener against Princeton last Saturday.
Dartmouth last took the field on Oct. 1 in its first conference match against the Princeton Tigers. Starting goalkeeper
Costi Christodoulou was given a red card in the 31st minute of play, which forced the Big Green to play down a man for the majority of the contest.
Sophomore
Dylan Buchanan performed well in net in relief of Christodoulou, making three saves. Princeton's lone goal came off a corner kick, and the Big Green were unable to respond despite continued pressure in the final minutes of the contest.
Dartmouth and Holy Cross are set to face off for the first time since 2017. The Big Green are unbeaten against the Crusaders, holding a record of 6-0-3 and are 2-0-2 against Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass.
The Big Green look to build momentum during this midweek tilt on the road for a conference matchup against Penn in Philadelphia this Saturday.
DEFENSE & GOALKEEPING LEAD THE CHARGE
The Big Green defense has held strong throughout the 2022 season. Dartmouth has allowed 1.00 goals per game, the third best in the Ivy League.
Dartmouth's goalkeeping has also been stellar through seven matches. Big Green keepers hold a save percentage of .739, fourth in the conference.
Costi Christodoulou holds the best save percentage in the Ancient Eight (.818). He also averages 3.86 saves per game, the highest mark in the conference.
SCOUTING HOLY CROSS
Holy Cross enters Tuesday's tilt with a record of 4-6-1 and a Patriot League mark of 0-3-1. The Crusaders last took the field on Saturday, Oct. 1.
Senior Jack Ostrosky and sophomore Evan Jones lead their team in goals, as both have scored four this season. Ostrosky scored the equalizing goal in Holy Cross' matchup against Lehigh on Saturday.
Sophomore Josh Tubbs has seen the majority of action in net for the Crusaders. He has played in nine matches, making eight starts for Holy Cross and holds a record of 4-3-0.
Head coach Marco Koolman is in his 11
th season at the helm of the Holy Cross men's soccer program. Last season, he led the Crusaders to a 8-8-3 record last season and a 5-3-1 mark in Patriot League competition.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE CRUSADERS
The Big Green last battled the Crusaders on Sept. 16, 2017 in Worcester. Dartmouth dominated en route to a 5-0 victory.
Dartmouth outshot Holy Cross 11-3 and registered eight shots on goal throughout the match. Matt Danilack recorded a pair of goals for the Big Green in the nonconference matchup, while Justin Donawa posted a pair of assists.
Goalkeeper Christopher Palacios recorded one save, finishing the match with a clean sheet.
