EMMITSBURG, Md. — The Dartmouth women's rugby team was nothing short of dominant in its 13th consecutive win. The Big Green rolled to a 79-0 victory over Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Maryland Saturday afternoon.
10 different players found the try zone as Dartmouth cleared 70 points for the seventh time in program history. It was also the Big Green's first shutout win since the last time the two sides met, when the eventual champions powered past Mount St. Mary's 70-0 midway through the 2021 campaign.
Anjali Pant opened the scoring for a second straight week, and
Josie Harrison followed with her first career try. Already ahead 12-0,
Katelyn Walker busted a 30-meter run and offloaded to
Kristin Bitter, who scored her first of back-to-back tries.
Cassie Depner became the second Big Green player to earn a first career try and after a successful conversion, Dartmouth was on top 29-0. Scores by
Asialeata Meni,
Nicole Ihensekhien and another by Harrison rounded out the lopsided first half as the Big Green led comfortably, 50-0. It was their highest-scoring half since last year's season opener against Long Island.
Jordan Duncan kickstarted the second half scoring and
Abby Kayser later ran the score to 62-0 with her first career try. Walker became the fourth Dartmouth player to notch the milestone score as the freshman found pay dirt for the first time in her career. Meni's try, along with Kayser's drop goal were the Big Green's final tallies in the 79-0 domination.
Along with her two tries, Bitter was good for six conversions.
Taylor Sadek assumed those duties later in the contest and notched two conversions.
Dartmouth is on the road again next week to face Harvard. Kickoff in Cambridge, Massachusetts is slated for 12
p.m.
