Men’s Squash Opens 2022-23 Season with Win Over Rochester

The Big Green picked up a 7-2 home victory at the Berry Squash Courts

HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's squash team opened the 2022-23 season at home against Rochester Sunday morning. The Big Green rolled to a 7-2 win at the Berry Squash courts to kick off Vikram Malhotra's second season as the Douglas A. Donahue Jr. 1973 Head Coach of Men's and Women's Squash.

The Big Green swept positions No. 3-9, including 3-0 victories for Christian Shah and Chris Zachary in positions three and four, respectively. Dartmouth registered six 3-0 sweeps over Rochester, as the Big Green claimed its first season-opening win since 2018.

Rochester's Abdelrahman Lasheen defeated Jack Bell in the first position, while Mac Aube dropped a 3-0 decision in position two to Yash Fadte, with all three sets decided by three points or fewer.

Senior Lucan White won the day's toughest matchup, outlasting Emilio Carrillo in a five-set battle. White and Carrillo split the first two sets before Rochester's student-athlete secured a crucial 18-16 third set. White recovered quickly, winning the fourth set, 11-3 before capping off a 64-minute performance with a 11-4 fifth set.

Freshman Felix Feldman made his collegiate debut for the Big Green in the eighth position. The San Francisco, California native picked up a convincing 3-0 sweep to kick off his Dartmouth career. Aryan Khandelwal picked up a 3-0 win in an exhibition against Nicholas Gill.

Dartmouth takes the court next on November 30 at home against Harvard. The Wednesday match begins at 5 p.m. at the Berry Squash Courts.
