BELFAST, Northern Ireland. – The Dartmouth men's hockey team fell to UMass Lowell, 4-3, in overtime on Saturday at the SSE Arena in the consolation game of the 2022 Harness Friendship Four.

Dartmouth moves to 1-6-1 while UMass Lowell improves to 9-6-0.

Tanner Palocsik,
Cooper Flinton and
Luke Haymes each scored for the Big Green.
Cooper Black made 36 saves while also picking up his first career assist.
Sean Chisholm,
Ryan Sorkin,
Matt Hubbarde,
Cam MacDonald and
Braiden Dorfman also had assists.

Zach Kaiser, Nick Rhéaume, Carl Berglund and Stefan Owens all scored for the River Hawks. Ben Meehan chipped in two assists.

The Big Green started off strong with three goals in the opening period. Palocsik opened the scoring four and a half minutes into the first period with an incredible solo effort. Black controlled the puck behind the net and let it go for Palocsik, who took it the length of the ice, skating through the River Hawk defense before firing a shot past UMass Lowell goaltender Henry Welsch.
Dartmouth extended the lead midway through the period. After winning a faceoff in the offensive zone, Flinton had a shot towards goal that was saved but was able to score on the follow-up for his second of the year. Haymes added to the lead late in the period. After receiving a pass off the boards from Dorfman, Haymes played a quick give-and-go with MacDonald and calmly tucked the puck in the back of the net to make it 3-0.

The River Hawks scored twice in a 46 second span during the second period to cut into the Big Green lead. UMass Lowell capitalized on a turnover in the Dartmouth defense zone to grab their first of the day before cashing in on an opportunity shortly after to make it a one goal game.

UMass Lowell pulled Gustavs Davis Grigals late in the third period and tied the game with the extra man opportunity with just under 90 seconds remaining. Neither team could find the winner in the final seconds, forcing a 3v3 overtime. The River Hawks won the faceoff to begin the extra period and controlled the puck until they found the game-winner 96 seconds into overtime.
